In this first piece of the Fragments of Time triptych, I invite the viewer to delve into a nostalgic narrative that reflects the foundation of existence. The vibrant arrangement of objects, each carefully chosen, symbolises personal and collective memories that mark the start of a journey. The piece juxtaposes the timeless beauty of nature with material relics from modern life, such as a vintage Nokia phone and a Vaseline tin, capturing a moment where innocence meets the complexities of a consumer-driven world.
Through this work, I explore how material possessions both shape and erode our understanding of life’s fragility. "The Beginning" sets the stage for the triptych’s broader narrative, where the interplay of memory, nostalgia, and materiality begins to unravel. It is an invitation to reflect on the delicate balance between the past and its inevitable disintegration.
